Open Shoot "ICON-O-CHROME" by ASH CASTRO

Hi ladies! I want to spread the word that one of my favorite photographers in the Metro will be conducting an open shoot.
As I previously said in my other post, it doesn't hurt to have a glamorous photo to jazz up your Facebook page, to experience what it's actually like to be a model or just have a photo taken for fun!
The best part is you get to keep the pictures and show it to your friends and relatives. Plus, photos from open shoots can be used to build up your portfolio incase you're into modelling.

Who is Ash Castro and what's so special about him?

"Ash Castro's work is characterized by good color combination that makes his subjects more moving and alive even in stills.. The fashion-sensitive artist obviously deals with models and fashion designers, ensuring the atmosphere of good taste in clothes and chic posing during shoots. As the one who captures the images, he determines the best angles in freezing models and everything beautiful created by the good mix of colorful outfits, pretty make-ups, and stylish posing."
- YUGEL LOSORATA, MANILA BULLETIN, Lifesytle/Picture Perfect Section,Dec 09 2008 ISSUE

My take - Ash is just one of those persons who has an eye for beauty. It's so easy to work with him and he will surely make you feel comfortable. He'll even teach you how to pose. LOL! He's a perfectionist but he's down to earth and friendly.
I mean I have a photo taken by him, and I was smiling. O.o That usually doesn't happen with me. LOL! I tend to be really stiff when I get my photos taken because I am not photogenic. :p
He's also very professional. You probably have noticed by now that I love him, and yes, I'd have to agree because he's such a great person.

Please feel free to check out more photos by Ash HERE.

ICON-O-CHROME was featured in one of the country's leading news paper:

Gothic Series Open Photoshoot

Hi dear readers! So, yesterday my sister said she wanted to go to MJ Cachero Salinas' Gothic Open shoot. Well, I was not really feeling up to it since I have a flu but since she really wanted to I couldn't say, no. Uhhh yeah, I tend to spoil my younger siblings. :'(

I saw a lot of familiar faces on the shoot. I also met new found friends! :3

GOTHIC SERIES
Photographer: MJ Cachero Salinas
MUAs: Nanan Villalba (Nani Von), Anton Patdu & Diane Lorenzana
Hair stylist: George Delfin & Mycke Summers

We previously worked with Sir Nan and Anton before so we were already at ease and we casually chatted. :3

So... Here I am. LOL! A happy and timid looking goth vampire. RawR!

Getting ready for the shoot! :D

One more time :)

with Mycke Summers this time around. LOL! We were pretty much into it.

I actually have two hair pieces with one on top of the other - it was kind of heavy but  was pretty much worth it!
NOTE: I just resized and watermarked the photos. ^_^

We had so much fun! The photos clearly show that we were. LOL! :) Everyone was so professional but wasn't so stiff as to not be cheerful and exchange a few hi's and chit-chat.
I think MJ is considering having a part II because yesterday was a huge success!

Congratulations for a job well done to everyone on the set! :D

I'm eagerly waiting for the processed photos! :3

Lots of love,
Sugar ^_^

Open shoots ^-^

I wonder why no one ever blogs about open shoots? O.o

There will be two open shoots that I am aware of which will be next week. I will provide links to the links below. Please feel free to check and register if you feel that you want to. Errr no, I'm not being paid to post about this. I just think that going to an open shoot is a fun experience and everyone deserves to be pampered once in awhile. ^-^

So the first question is, "What is an open shoot?"

- Ok, so I googled it and apparently no one has ever came up with a definition for an open shoot. O.O
If you'll ask me, I would say that an open shoot is just like any shoot wherein a person will be primed, made up and shot as if that person was a model. The photographer, MUAs (makeup artists, hair stylists, etc) showcase their talents by making that person appear and feel like a model for a certain fee. (Corrections to the definition given are more than welcome.) Please feel to correct me if I came up with the wrong impression of what an open shoot is.

So, what is the purpose of the "open shoot"?

- I suppose those who are modelling free lance get their photos taken to build their portfolios.
- For those who are not in the modeling business, it doesn't hurt to have gorgeous high fashion pictures for our FB's and blogs does it? :)
- It's fun and one gets to experience how a shoot is more or less done.

How much will I spend?

- It depends. Hmmm... I suppose it would be safe to say that it will cost around Php 700-1,500. Depending on the number of photos, photographer and the concept. Yes - it depends on who the photographer is - a more popular photographer will charge higher than one who is just starting out.

What does concept mean in an open shoot?

- All open shoots have concepts. It's like the theme of what the shoot is about so more or less, one will end up looking like the photos of the sample shots showcased or shown in the photographers test shots. ^-^

My take on open shoots:

It's really fun! Most of the times the people one meets are really friendly and professional. They'd pamper and make you beautiful, glamorous and HOT! So, I'd say go for it. LOL! I'm sorry if all the adjectives I used are more on the feminine side but I rarely see guys in open shoots. :D Plus, it doesn't hurt to have a really fashionable and uber cool pictures for FB profiles and blogs, right? Most of the photographers who have these open shoots charge a much higher rate on a normal business day so one has to grab the chance of experiencing it while it is offered for a cheaper price.

The one thing that I really like about this open shoots is, there is no discrimination whatsoever as to their models/costumers/patrons. Anyone is welcome to come. No matter what one's age, race, or status in life is. ^_~
